Seeking forgiveness and repentance

Seeking forgiveness and repentance: 6 supplications in Arabic with English translation and sources, from the Fortress of the Muslim (Hisn al-Muslim).

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “By Allah, I ask Allah’s forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day.”

He also said: “O people, repent to Allah, for I repent to Him a hundred times a day.”

He also said: “Whoever says: ‘I ask forgiveness of Allah the Mighty, besides whom there is no god, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining, and I turn to Him in repentance’, Allah forgives him, even if he fled from the battlefield.”

He also said: “The Lord is nearest to His servant in the last part of the night: if you can be among those who remember Allah at that hour, then do so.”

He also said: “A servant is nearest to his Lord when he is prostrating, so make many supplications.”

He also said: “My heart is at times veiled, and I ask Allah’s forgiveness a hundred times a day.”
