Recite Ayat al-Kursi, the Throne Verse (Quran 2:255).
Recite the last two verses of Surat Al-Baqara (Quran 2:285-286).
In Your name my Lord, I lie down and in Your name I rise. If You take my soul, have mercy upon it, and if You return it, protect it as You protect Your righteous servants.
O Allah, You created my soul and You take it back; to You belong its death and its life. If You keep it alive, protect it; and if You cause it to die, forgive it. O Allah, I ask You for well-being.
O Allah, protect me from Your punishment on the day You resurrect Your servants.
In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.
Glory be to Allah (thirty-three times), praise be to Allah (thirty-three times), Allah is the greatest (thirty-four times).
O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens, Lord of the earth and Lord of the mighty Throne, our Lord and Lord of all things, Splitter of the grain and the date-stone, Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel and the Criterion (the Quran): I seek refuge in You from the evil of everything You hold by the forelock. O Allah, You are the First: nothing is before You; You are the Last: nothing is after You; You are the Manifest: nothing is above You; You are the Hidden: nothing is beneath You. Settle our debts for us and spare us from poverty.
Praise be to Allah, who fed us and gave us drink, who sufficed us and sheltered us; how many have no one to suffice them or shelter them!
O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Lord and Sovereign of all things, I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own soul, from the evil of Satan and his polytheism, and from doing wrong to myself or bringing it upon another Muslim.
Recite Surat As-Sajda (32, which begins with Alif Lam Mim) and Surat Al-Mulk (67).
O Allah, I submit my soul to You, I entrust my affair to You, I turn my face to You and I lean my back on You, in hope and in fear of You. There is no refuge and no escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.
